Episode 1: Introduction with Beth Krucien

United Kingdom

Episode description

Every day, the people of Veolia work hard to deliver essential services across the UK and Ireland – whether that’s by sorting waste to be recycled, treating wastewater to be reused, providing clean energy to customers and communities or supporting all activities from our corporate offices. But with 14,000 resourcers across over 400 sites, it’s hard to keep up with all the amazing things that our people do…

That is why we’ve created Veolia’s ‘Our people’ podcast. In each episode, we’ll sit down with our colleagues, heading into the heart of our business and celebrating the brilliant work they achieve. Through real, open and honest conversations, we’re going behind the scenes to find out what drives our resourcers to do the work they do.

I am Beth Krucien and we've created this podcast to connect Veolia's people to the work we do through the stories we share.

0:27

And getting to know each other better by learning from one another through real conversations.

0:32

This is not about processes or business updates but getting to know one another and what being a resourcer for Veolia really means.

0:40

In the upcoming conversations in future episodes we will discuss the passions that drive us, the purpose that defines us and the stories that connect us.

0:49

Each episode we'll be sitting down with our colleagues and delving deeper into the minds of our people here at Veolia.

0:56

We believe that every person was created with purpose and although that may look different this podcast gives inspiration for how we can all make an impact as we work towards ecological transformation.

1:09

So for those who may not know what ecological transformation is, it's about creating a more sustainable future and finding solutions to the challenges our planet is facing right now.

1:20

So let me introduce myself. My name is Beth Krucien and I work in the organisational development team here at Veolia.

1:27

So that means I develop and help support new ways of thinking with our people.

1:33

I'm your host and you can join us every episode as we have conversations, as we invite people from across the UK and Ireland business throughout the various different teams within water, waste and energy.

1:49

So I just want to share with you where the idea to create this podcast came from and it was really understanding that we have got so many people who are doing amazing things that are going above and beyond, coming up with great new ideas.

2:03

We're creating another space in which we can start to connect our people, we can have conversations, hear stories, updates that can help us to think differently or inspire and share new ways of working.

2:17

So we thought about creating a podcast where we can invite all of those great people along to hear what their day to day looks like, what they have been doing, what ideas they have, what has worked well for them.

2:29

And hopefully you can take some information and you can start to help support you in a new way of working or new way of thinking as we are all working towards ecological transformation.

2:40

So next time we will be joined by Matt Powers. Matt is a community cleansing supervisor from West Berkshire and we're going to start to explore what Matt's day to day looks like, what inspires him, hear his story.

2:53

And at the beginning of each episode with our guest, we'll be asking a question that the last guest has left.

2:59

So obviously for Matt, this will be a question from myself, so we can have that golden thread throughout continuing to connect all of our people together.

3:07

See you soon. Bye.
